Hershey’s Candy Cane Kiss Sugar Cookie Bars

Hi everyone! It’s Lauren again, with another holiday recipe. These are perfect for all you with a sweet tooth out there. When I say they’re sweet, I mean SWEET. But so so yummy. The frosting was too sweet for my boyfriend, but his dog sure loved it! 😉
I’ve been going crazy in finals mode, but have been trying to get into the holiday spirit, so of course I took a long break to bake something to bring into school! If you’ve never had Candy Cane Hershey’s Kisses, do yourself a favor and go buy some. They’re just so good.
These have a basic sugar cookie base, with the chopped Kisses mixed in, and a cream cheese frosting. MMM CREAM CHEESE. These are easy to make and will be at hit at any Christmas party.
Anyways, here’s what you’ll need:
Ingredients
Bars:
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups finely chopped Hershey’s candy cane kisses, about 45 kisses
Frosting:
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2-3 Tablespoons milk
  • (optional) finely chopped Hershey’s candy cane kisses

First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9×13 dish with Pam.

Next, beat your butter and your sugar for the bars together until it looks nice a fluffy. Add in your eggs and vanilla, and mix it just until combined.

In another bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add it to your wet mixture, beating constantly.

Get your Hershey’s Kisses chopped up, and slowly mix them into the dough.

Press the dough evenly into your dish and bake for 18-20 minutes. The edges should just be starting to turn slightly brown.

Once that’s done, let them cool in the dish, and you make your frosting. Don’t frost them until they are completely cooled. Beat the cream cheese with the butter, then add the powdered sugar and vanilla and beat until creamy. Add one tablespoon of milk at a time until you get it the consistency you want.

Top with more chopped Kisses and you’re done!

Happy Holidays everyone!
